Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt, usually between the ages of 17 and 25 years. In many people, there is not enough space in the jaw for these teeth to grow properly, causing them to become impacted or trapped beneath the gums. Impacted wisdom teeth may cause pain, swelling, difficulty opening the mouth, bad breath, or repeated infections around the tooth. In some cases, they can also damage neighbouring teeth or lead to cyst formation.

While not every impacted wisdom tooth requires removal, symptomatic or problematic teeth are often treated with a minor surgical procedure performed under local or general anaesthesia. Regular dental check-ups and timely evaluation help identify impacted wisdom teeth before they cause significant discomfort or complications.
