Local Anaesthesia

Local anaesthesia is used to numb a small area of the body so that minor procedures can be performed without pain while you remain fully awake. It is commonly used for stitching wounds, removing skin lumps or cysts, dental procedures, nail surgeries, and minor hand or foot operations. The anaesthetic medicine is injected directly around the area being treated or applied as a topical cream or gel in certain situations. You may feel slight pressure or movement during the procedure, but you should not experience pain. The numbness usually lasts for a few hours before normal sensation gradually returns. Local anaesthesia is generally very safe, allows rapid recovery, and enables most patients to return home shortly after the procedure. Your doctor will provide instructions on caring for the treated area until the numbness wears off.
